a finding

I have searched this universe and beyond
for that I had found, then lost.

I have inhaled the essence of a thousand maidens
all the while feeling my emptiness within.

Following the trails of lost explorers,
I’ve remembered clues Time has long forgotten.

Leaving my body at rest, I’ve searched the within
and without of the planes in between.

I have sold my soul to the Fates,
and purchased it back,
having out-lived them.

I have surfed among the growling grottos along waves of magma,
searching corners and fragments.

I have listened to the tales of demons and buddhas long dead,
hoping for a glimpse of my truth.

I have searched the pits of Hell,
and round the translucent pillars of the new Heaven,
all in vain.

A lifetime of lifetimes I have spent,
to purchase that which was lost to me, so long ago.

Where are you?
