Solitude? –
Good for you? Some think so.
Others cringe at the very thought.
So test it I did, with an open mind,
Crushed now am I, a soul become haunted.
Oh to be surrounded by friends and loved ones.
Oh to ascend from this abyss of aloneness,
Surrounded by the ghosts of nothing.
Solitude, self-torture, this pain I want no more,
I join you, my knowing friends,
and leave this Solitude
To the winds of time,
alone,
where it wants to be.
This below is the ‘original’ rhyme edition of Solitude, but I like the free verse above better, as suggested by the WordWizards group.
Solitude? –
Some people say,
That it’s good for you.
Others will neigh
That it makes you blue.
I’ve tried it out
Just to be sure,
And what it’s all about
Is to make you azure.
Surround me with friends
Or a loved one or three.
Being alone is to descend,
And trap a soul that would be free.
Ignoring others is to be rude,
And if allowed you will -
Descend into the depths of Solitude…
